Established in 2007 and closed in 2013, The Fugitive Motel was a collective webzine run by passionate, informed people who care about their music and popular culture. We tried not to discriminate by genre or, indeed, anything else – we only cared about whether your music was good or not. Our contributors were split between Manchester and London, two of the UK’s most creative cities. This is an archive as it stood when the site was placed on (permanent) hiatus.
“Live music venues were the hub of my community growing up, not just for bands but also for photographers, painters, writers, dancers, teachers, businessmen and women – and they still are. How a society treats the arts is a clear indication of its spiritual and emotional health.” – Guy Garvey, writing for Shortlist magazine, 2011
