Established in 2007 and closed in 2013, The Fugitive Motel was a collective webzine run by passionate, informed people who care about their music and popular culture. We tried not to discriminate by genre or, indeed, anything else – we only cared about whether your music was good or not. Our contributors were split between Manchester and London, two of the UK’s most creative cities. This is an archive as it stood when the site was placed on (permanent) hiatus.
“When I used to walk past [Manchester] Central Library as a kid with my granddad, he would say: ‘That library belongs to you, and all the books in there: don’t let them take it away from you.'” – Guy Garvey, The Guardian, 2011
