Established in 2007 and closed in 2013, The Fugitive Motel was a collective webzine run by passionate, informed people who care about their music and popular culture. We tried not to discriminate by genre or, indeed, anything else – we only cared about whether your music was good or not. Our contributors were split between Manchester and London, two of the UK’s most creative cities. This is an archive as it stood when the site was placed on (permanent) hiatus.
“I had to resign myself, many years ago, that I’m not too articulate when it comes to explaining how I feel about things. But my music does it for me, it really does. There, in the chords and melodies, is everything I want to say. The words just jolly it along. It’s always been my way of expressing what for me is inexpressible by any other means.” – David Bowie, in an interview with Livewire in 2002
