Established in 2007 and closed in 2013, The Fugitive Motel was a collective webzine run by passionate, informed people who care about their music and popular culture. We tried not to discriminate by genre or, indeed, anything else – we only cared about whether your music was good or not. Our contributors were split between Manchester and London, two of the UK’s most creative cities. This is an archive as it stood when the site was placed on (permanent) hiatus.
“You can only pretend not to care for so long before you have to admit that you hate being made to look like an idiot. I hate seeing myself misquoted. I hate being linked romantically with girls I’ve been close to for years but never slept with. It’s just upsetting, isn’t it? My nan reads and believes these things. I say, ‘Hiya Nan, how are you getting on?’ and she’ll say, ‘Are you all right? What about that cat you injected with crack?’ ” – Peter Doherty in conversation with the Mail on Sunday, 2008
