Established in 2007 and closed in 2013, The Fugitive Motel was a collective webzine run by passionate, informed people who care about their music and popular culture. We tried not to discriminate by genre or, indeed, anything else – we only cared about whether your music was good or not. Our contributors were split between Manchester and London, two of the UK’s most creative cities. This is an archive as it stood when the site was placed on (permanent) hiatus.
“You were saying, ‘Do you read the newspapers, are you interested?’ I know you’re not talking about protest songs, and, of course, I’m aware of what’s going onto a degree, but… I just don’t think I’m equipped to soundtrack the times. There might be someone out there who can do that, but I haven’t cracked it.” – Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys, The Observer magazine, 2011
